Which route fits?
For one night with accommodation, first test whether a small frame or saddle bag carries your actual packing list securely.
For a longer self-supported route, separate heavy items from frequently accessed layers and check each mounting point under load.
Ortlieb's Frame-Pack and Handlebar-Pack illustrate different positions and mounting systems. Their specifications help you measure fit; they do not establish that either bag is right for your bike.
Check before you buy
- Measure frame, handlebar and saddle clearance, including tyre and cable movement.
- Check weight limits and attachment instructions for the exact bike and bag.
- Plan water protection for the conditions; a water-resistant label is not a waterproof guarantee.
