START WITH THE ACTIVITY

Your practical kit checklist

Use this as a starting point, then adapt it to your route, season, accommodation and organiser requirements.

01

Broken-in hiking footwear

Carry only what you can comfortably take uphill for several days; fit and pack weight matter more than capacity alone.

02

Layered clothing and rain protection

Pack a waterproof layer and warm layer where you can reach them without emptying your bag.

03

Suitable pack, water and navigation

Check whether your huts require a sleeping-bag liner, indoor shoes, cash or specific bedding.

CHOOSE WITH PURPOSE

Buy only what you actually need

Start with what you already own and test it on a similar training session or walking day. Fit, conditions and your stage plan matter more than a brand or price.

Check the current requirements

Kit lists, permitted equipment and conditions can change. Use the official information for your route or edition before travelling or buying anything.
